How long is a Signature Portrait Session?
The Signature Collections include a 90-minute, 60-minute, or 45-minute portrait experience.
We leave enough time for everyone to settle in, especially little ones, and for us to photograph a variety of family combinations and natural moments without making the session feel rushed.
How do I choose which collection to book?
Choose Story for a focused portrait session with 15 favorite photographs. Choose Keepsake if you want more time for different family combinations and natural moments, with 30 photographs included.
Choose Heirloom for a longer session at home or in a meaningful location, with your full gallery of 50 or more edited photographs included.
Can I purchase more photographs after seeing my gallery?
Yes. Additional digital photographs are $10 each for Story and Keepsake clients. You can choose your favorites after viewing your gallery. Heirloom already includes every final edited photograph delivered.
Who chooses the digital images?
You do. Your private gallery will include the finished photographs from your session, and you will choose the images included with your collection.
Heirloom clients receive the full curated gallery, so there is nothing to narrow down.
Can I print my digital files myself?
Yes. Your purchased high-resolution digital photographs include personal printing rights.
You can also order professional prints, wall art, and albums directly through your private online gallery. Printed products are purchased separately.
Do you travel?
Yes. Field & Valley serves Culpeper and surrounding areas throughout Central and Northern Virginia. Travel outside the standard service area may require an additional fee.
Do you require a retainer to book?
A signed agreement and retainer are required to reserve your session date. The remaining balance is due according to the terms provided at booking.
Where will our session take place?
Sessions can take place at your home, on your property, or at an outdoor location that works well for the look and feel you want.
We photograph throughout Culpeper, Central Virginia, Northern Virginia, and surrounding areas and will help you choose a location if you do not already have one in mind.
What should we wear?
You do not need to figure that out alone. Before your session, we will help you think through clothing that photographs well and feels like your family. The goal is for everyone to look pulled together without feeling overly matched or uncomfortable.
Can we include extended family or grandparents?
Absolutely, and we love it when they join! Sessions include up to 6 people. Groups of 7–12 add $100 to allow more time and accommodate family groupings, and we quote larger groups individually. Everyone in the session can order artwork, so grandparents can take home portraits of their own, too.
What happens if it rains?
If your session is planned outdoors and the weather is not going to cooperate, we will work with you to choose another date or make a different plan.
